2010 Pacific Coast Bike Tour:
Portland, OR to San Francisco, CA
On July 11, 2010, we began our 850 mile trek that winded down the Pacific Coast that traversed two states. We started our journey from Astoria, a coastal town northwest of Portland. From there, we cycled our way down south along the Oregon and California coast, traveling through a vast range of landscapes: from dairy farms to steep mountains and sand dunes. We averaged around 60-80 miles a day, and at that rate, we had reached San Francisco within 12 days.
After passing through the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco on July 23, we visited our high school where our fellow students, peers, and community had organized the Ride Against Cancer Benefit Rally. It was the last and final stage of our 850 mile bike ride. It was an amazing event where our community and local politicians had the opportunity to voice, support, and stand behind our cause.
The 2010 Pacific Coast bicycle ride turned out to be a huge success. After almost a full year of planning and training, our once small idea had sprung to life. We were able to explore the Pacific Coast by bicycle, pedal through some amazing and unforgettable places, and tackle on some extremely challenging routes. But most of all, we had the amazing opportunity to meet and talk to so many kind people about Ride Against Cancer and our mission.
With the kind and generous support from our families, friends, and community, we were able to meet and surpass our goal, raising almost $12,000 in the fight against cancer.
From the bottom of our hearts, we thank you for being with us every step of the journey.
