In early 2010, my father passed away after fighting a decade-long battle with Sarcoma cancer. Throughout his challenging journey, my father faced brutal chemotherapies, radiation treatments, and countless surgeries. To me, he was one of the greatest role models I looked up to and one of the closest people in my life. Losing my father was really hard. But witnessing his perseverance in his battles against this disease throughout my childhood have taught me several valuable lessons: never give up and always keep on believing. And ultimately, my father has inspired me to start Ride Against Cancer.

I love you, Dad. Always have, always will.

I am currently a senior attending high school in Fremont, CA. Outside of school, I’m an avid cyclist and an active member of the Fremont Race Team, a local road cycling chapter. On weekends, I enjoy going on long rides with friends and exploring new places. I volunteer a lot of my hours towards community service and participate in numerous cancer charity events such as the Livestrong Challenge and the Relay for Life event. In my spare time, I also like to swim, run, listen to music, practice photography, and spend time outdoors.

I’ve had a passion for cycling throughout my childhood, and I’ve been fascinated with the sport since as long as I can remember. My uncle, who is a professional road cyclist, inspired and introduced me to the great sport, and I must admit that I’m quite addicted now. I am a huge fan of mountain biking as well. In addition to cycling, I try and stay physically active throughout an array of sports. I’m on the varsity gymnastics team and have played golf. I also enjoy kicking back and relaxing with my close friends when I’m not bogged down with school work. I also love to cook, which allows me to show off a totally different side of me.

Since, my best friend Samir Pendse had passed away from Leukemia, I decided to join the Ride Against Cancer cause. As a brother to me, he is my true inspiration for taking on this challenge and partaking in the movement. I enjoy testing my limits through daring adventures, and I am sure I will make it through this one too. I enjoy helping others, biking, and hanging out with my friends. From this ride I hope to become a better cyclist, and perhaps learn something new from Chris and Arvind.
